Growing up in a creative family, annabelle laroque, owner and designer of LaRoque remembers her mother as artist in various forms. always painting, sewing, gardening and cooking, her creative nature and love for art struck a cord with annabelle. at an early age design, fashion and color motivated her. she always knew that art would be an important part in who she was, but never dreamed that she would have a label of her own. she now channels her creative energy and love for design into her collections.

Leaving a corporate sales job after only sewing for six months seemed like divine intervention for the young designer. in 2005, she quit her job and focused only on design. with the family’s antique sewing machine, she set out to make skirts for friends and family members. quickly gaining the attention of local shop owners and local press, laroque’s line of experimental skirts turned into a success almost overnight. she named the line laroque, her maiden name, to honor her late father.

In 2006, a small space was rented in the upscale shopping district of columbia, sc. the 12×12 space served as a working studio for the designer. part retail, part workroom, LaRoque Studio Boutique was born. quickly outgrowing the very small atelier, LaRoque expanded in 2008. in 2010 LaRoque expanded to included a whole sale that is sold in boutique along the southeast. women of all ages love annabelle’s modern take on classic designs.

Annabelle laroque has been featured in Southern Living, Charleston Magazine, Skirt, Jolie, The State, Fox News and the New York Times.
